"This article argues that from film to fashion and architecture to advertising, creative fields have become dominated and defined by convention and cliché. Distinctiveness has died. In every field we look at, we find that everything looks the same.

Welcome to the age of average."

Final edits on the Wedding Day novel are complete. Thank you again @Sarah Grey! Next up is a feature screenplay.

Two days left to register to win a critique or script notes from me! I do this every month. Here's the link for April: https://jakekerr.com/april-critique-contest/. #jakescritiquelab

This is one of those tweets you don't want to write, but it must be said. I have very clear evidence that @NGDWrites completely plagiarized his screenplay Blood Wave from my script Blood Trickle. Something needs to be done.

Spending time with Microsoft Word for the first time in a very long time, and this is totally viable as a Scrivener replacement. Dynamic chapter numbering and drag and drop of pretty much everything (including chapters), along with the simpler UI and an outline view is doing it for me. Note: I wasn't really a Scrivener power user. I just move scenes and chapters a lot. LOL.

Ugh. In the process of moving from the Origin to the Kindle Scribe I lost all my novel revision notes. The worst part is that I can't blame technology. It was just me being dumb. Oh well, I'm hoping this second pass will be even better.

Wow, now I feel extra dumb. I forgot to check the damn Mac recycle bin, and there it was. Mischief managed!

Stunned at how great the Kindle Scribe actually is. It's PERFECT for marking up screenplays. A really great piece of hardware.

Every month I provide free feedback to a writer or screenwriter. You can enter the giveaway here: jakekerr.com/april-critique…. I'm looking forward to reading your work! #jakescritiquelab

I wasted an absurd amount of time trying out specialized novel-writing apps like Scrivener only to find that Microsoft Word was what I needed. :/

My April notes/critique contest is now live. You can find it here. Submit your email to win notes from me on your fiction or screenplay! #jakescritiquelab

After 30 minutes of using the Kindle Scribe I'm a fan. The writing experience is exquisite. The screen is as good as the Oasis. Build quality is awesome. A bit heavy, but not as heavy as a hardback. :)

I'll be using this for marking up screenplays and as my primary reading device.

Final revisions coming to a close on Wedding Day.

Critiquing this months' free critique winner, and the writing is so strong. That's two in a row of writers who are fundamentally really good. Very pleasantly surprised.

Nextcloud is simply amazing open source software. That is all.

Now that I've installed Elementary OS on this cheap Chromebook and turned it into a pretty decent laptop, i have no idea what to do with it, as I have a new Macbook coming in like 5 days.

Edits on the Wedding Day novel are progressing thanks to some killer feedback from @Sarah Grey. Pretty sure the slow pace will kill my goal of having the Thursday feature screenplay done by the end of March, however.
in reply to Jake Kerr

I’m so glad the feedback was helpful. :)

After significant thought over which digital audio workstation to use, I have settled on Logic Pro. The UI works better for me than the alternatives, all of which seemed quite strong.

My first foray into #1stPageFriday, and I'm a freakin' day late. Sorry! This is the first page of my work in progress.

I can't tell you how great it is that Friendica (a version of Mastadon that's more like Facebook) seamlessly integrates with Twitter. Makes navigating the bird site without touching it so much easier.

A career in radio certainly makes the podcast production learning curve a whole lot less steep.

New from #WriterBeware: Today I'm blogging over at WriterUnboxed with a post about some seriously author-unfriendly publishing contract clauses that just might make you decide to walk away. Why did I not know that there is a radio play-style narrative science fiction podcast starring Helen Hunt? #solar
